Typhoon Danas storm cause death of two people, injuring hundreds
The storm made landfall late Sunday in Budai Township, located in Chiayi County in southern Taiwan. By early Monday, it had weakened into a tropical storm. Despite the downgrade, Danas unleashed severe weather conditions including strong winds and heavy rainfall, prompting the evacuation of around 3,483 residents.
The fatalities occurred in Tainan. One person lost their life when a power outage—caused by the storm—interrupted critical medical care, while another was fatally struck by a falling tree.
Authorities reported approximately 2,270 storm-related incidents throughout the affected areas, reflecting the widespread impact of the typhoon.
