Schumer Urges Complete Disclosure of Epstein Files

(MENAFN) US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated on Wednesday that the United States cannot put lingering doubts about the late, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to rest unless every related document is entirely disclosed.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer emphasized that public closure is impossible without absolute openness, declaring, "America will not move on from the Epstein files until America gets the whole truth, the full truth about the Epstein files. America will not move on until Donald Trump does what he promised, full transparency, and we haven't come close to that yet," he said.

His comments followed remarks made a day earlier by President Donald Trump, who urged the country to turn the page after the most recent document release, while alleging that Epstein and others had worked against him.

Schumer argued that vast numbers of files remain concealed, describing millions of documents as still “shrouded in darkness,” and warned that their hidden contents continue to fuel uncertainty.
He questioned what information may still be undisclosed, asking, "We have no idea what's left in them, what is in there about Donald Trump? Did the Justice Department particularly hide and not reveal documents that might be damaging to Trump?"

The senator further alleged that the Justice Department has placed Trump’s personal interests above transparency and its legal responsibilities, asserting that the department no longer operates independently under officials selected by the president.

According to Schumer, "Trump chose people in the Justice Department to be his own attack dogs, his own puppets. They don't have any independence, and so we don't trust them," he said.

He concluded by insisting that the controversy will persist until Trump authorizes the release of all remaining documents connected to Epstein.

The most recent set of Epstein-related records made public by the Justice Department last week reportedly references multiple well-known individuals.
