Philippines Fire Destroys Dozens of Homes, Leaves Hundreds Homeless

(MENAFN) A large fire has swept through a densely populated residential area in the Philippines, destroying numerous homes and displacing hundreds of residents, according to local reports.

The blaze broke out late Tuesday in the Barangay area of Bacolod City, specifically affecting the Purok Ramon Magsaysay Dawis community, as stated by reports citing local social welfare officials.

Authorities said at least 103 families, totaling 307 individuals, were forced to flee their homes as the fire rapidly spread through the neighborhood.

Initial assessments indicate that 27 houses were completely destroyed, while another 10 sustained damage. Officials warned that the final figures could increase as ongoing verification efforts continue.

Emergency teams were deployed to the area to assist affected residents, many of whom have been temporarily relocated to evacuation centers as recovery and relief operations get underway.
